Chamomile Pear Quinoa Porridge
Ahhhh warm porridge. It’s the best thing on cold mornings, isn’t it?
Actually, I like warm porridge on summer too sometimes. There’s just something about it, waking you up slowly and kind of embracing your soul at the same time. You're calm and ready to greet the sun!
So this porridge today, does not only warm your soul, but nourishes you too and helps you maintain a healthy gut.
Oh! Also, I love adding chocolate squares to my warm porridge. :) Once those squares are melted, and it becomes an ooey gooey chocolatey heaven... OHHH!!!!
Quinoa flakes - Aside from being an excellent gluten free alternative, this ancient grain is packed with protein and fiber, and provides you with great amounts of nutrients!
Chamomile – As we all know, chamomile is famous for fighting stress and promotes relaxation. It also helps in improving digestion, helps reduce inflammation, and has a high amount of antioxidants. Hello beautiful skin!
Pear – Pear contains a high amount of Vitamin C, which is essential in boosting your immune system, especially in the mid of season changing. It also has high fiber contents that help in improving your digestion.
Cinnamon – Cinnamon is amazing in helping stabilize your blood sugar level.
2/3 cup quinoa flakes
2 cups water
2 tablespoons or 2 tea bags chamomile tea
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1 pear, chopped
Sweetener of choice, to taste (optional)
- Boil your water and steep your tea for at least 15 minutes. Strain.
- Return the brewed tea to the pan. Add in quinoa flakes, chopped pear, and cinnamon.
- Cook on medium, stirring frequently, until all the liquid is absorbed. Add in your sweetener if using.
- Serve with coconut yogurt and chopped nuts.
